Something Blue!

Sterling Silver Created Blue Spinel 1/10ct TDW Diamond Earrings
Overstock.com

The time honored tradition of wearing something blue on your wedding day dates back to the Victorian Era. The complete saying is: "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in your shoe!"  Now, we aren't going to tell you to put a piece of silver sixpence in your shoe as a symbol of wealth, but the other traditions remain good luck omens for brides today! Something "old" represents a tie to the family or the bride's old life, something "new" represents good fortune and success to come, something "borrowed" represents borrowing something that has already been worn by a happy bride to bring good luck to the marriage. Something "BLUE" however dates back to biblical times where the color blue represented purity and fidelity. Royal Blue also represents, peace, wealth and tranquility.

We love the tradition of wearing something blue on your wedding day but incorporating it into your attire can be tricky! Most brides wear blue in their garter belt or in their underpinnings. But our stylist suggests wearing it in your jewelry. A deep blue sapphire is rich and elegant looking and can compliment anyone's look. If you can't afford a sapphire you can wear a beautiful topaz, or get replica's at many stores including our Macy's and Etsy's.com.

Hair Charm

Because Details Matter: We love the idea of wearing beautiful, hand-made hair combs on your wedding day.  Pick a hair comb that has pretty details like pearls, flowers, mother of pearl, and other beautiful novelty details.  Sweep your hair up in a romantic low pony with tendrals falling out, secure the rest back with a pretty comb on either side. If you want to wear your hair in a french twist, or all up in a loose bun place the combs on either side of your head to frame your hair.  If you want to wear your hair half-up, you can place a larger comb in the center back or 2 smaller combs on either side.  You can also pick beautiful, colored combs for your bridesmaids as part of your theme and a statement piece.  Our pick is on Etsy:  We love this designers attention to detail, color combinations and mixture of flowers. Each piece is hand-made and one-of-a-kind!
